What is a cheeseburger pie?

Cheeseburger pie isn’t really a pie, but it’s not quite a quiche either. It’s actually very similar to a delicious breakfast casserole. Although variations of hamburger pie recipes have existed over the years, hamburger pie became famous when a recipe for it was printed on the back of Bisqueak boxes.

Can you make a cheeseburger pie with bisque?

This recipe for cheeseburger pie uses pantry staples to make a homemade version of bisque, a convenient baking mix. If you have a box of Bisquick in your pantry and want to use it as a shortcut, feel free to do so! Just substitute 1/2 cup of bisque for 1/2 cup of flour, baking powder, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter in this recipe.

What meat can you use in a cheeseburger pie?

If you want to keep your cheeseburger pie classic, you can use any ground beef you have on hand. Ground round or ground chuck is very coarse, so it needs draining when cooking; Ground sirloin or lean ground beef will not. If you’re looking for a healthier option, substitute 1 pound of ground bison, turkey, or even chicken. The possibilities are almost endless, and definitely delicious!
