The Louisville Bats won 7-6. Box score

Game notes

Ronnie Dawson hadn’t hit a home run since July 24, but he made up for it a little when he crushed two of those for Louisville on Sunday afternoon. It was his second 2-homer game of the year for the Bats.

Christian Santana hit his second straight game and fourth in his last six.

Spencer Steer extended his on-base streak to 31 games. In his 16 games since joining the Reds organization — all with Louisville — he’s hitting .313/.397/.516.

The Chattanooga Lookouts lost 6-5. Box score

Game notes

Eli De La Cruz also tied with teammate Alex McGarry for the organizational lead with 27 home runs. He is now hitting .308/.362/.618 with 36 steals in 99 games between Dayton and Chattanooga.

While De La Cruz and McGarry have the most homers in the Reds organization, Christian Encarnacion-Strand has bested them on the year. His homer on Sunday was his 28th of the season, but it was only his third since joining the Reds organization (14 games).

Andrew Abbott picked up 9 strikeouts with 2 walks in the game, but also allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits in 4.2 innings. The lefty now has 94 strikeouts with 34 walks in 71.0 innings since being promoted to Chattanooga. His ERA is up to 5.70 in that stretch.

Dayton Dragons game cancelled

The game actually started on time, but the skies opened up in the bottom of the first inning and she wrote. The game will not be restarted or made. Any statistics accumulated during the handful of minutes played will not be counted.

The Daytona Turtles lost 9-6. Box score

Game notes

From July 24 to August 7, Yasel Pino went 1-34. Since August 8 he has gone 11-28 (.393) with 6 walks and 7 strikeouts. He has now entered the home ground in 3 consecutive games.

Zack Rogers picked up 2 hits, but he was replaced as the designated hitter in what would have been his fourth at-bat of the night. There is no known reason for this at this point. His 2 hits lifted him to .289/.354/.529 in 59 games with the Tortugas.

Lewis May fought back in control on the night. He walked just 7 batters in July and August leading up to his Sunday night outing.
