How to properly dispose of cooking oil

If you regularly cook up a storm, you need to know how to properly dispose of cooking oil. Whether frying or browning our favorite foods, we are often left with extra oil at the end of the day. While we often think that the easiest (and fastest) way is to pour oil down the sink or toilet, you’re doing it all wrong.

In fact, it causes more harm than good. Once the oils solidify, they form clumps of fatty debris called “fatbergs.” This will inevitably clog the pipework, and wreak havoc on your drains. What’s more, these fatbergs can cause sewage backups, which can also pollute local waterways. Plus, the last thing you need is spending money on expensive repairs, or plumbing call-outs.
