Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation donates $5,000 to Great Plains Tribal Chairman’s Health Board in Rapid City, SD

Irving, TX (August 23, 2022) – The Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation and KCLO-TV, the Nexstar television station serving Rapid City, South Dakota and the surrounding area, today announced that the foundation will donate $5,000 to the Great Plains Tribal Chairman’s Health Board (GPTCHB). The donation will be used to support all Indigenous nations and communities of the Great Plains in their vision to reach optimal health and well-being through sustainable partnerships with health organizations and to embrace culturally significant values ​​empowered by Indigenous sovereignty.

Established in 1986, GPTCHB is dedicated to meeting the health and welfare needs of the tribal members it represents. Supporting the needs of 18 tribes and tribal communities in a four-state region of South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa, GPTCHB addresses the health needs of its members by helping them access health-related programs and resources.

In addition to advocacy on behalf of representative tribal members, the organization also provides important health promotion and education outreach services through its various programs and departments. In addition, the Health Board advocates nationally for improved Indian health policies on behalf of tribes and tribal communities, which comprise approximately 170,000 people.
