TikTok Trend Reveals Scary Disney Merchandise Failure

Disney merchandise has a reputation for being extremely hit or miss with its fan base.

In some instances, guests flock to get their hands on a new release or limited edition, such as those who lined up to buy special event merchandise from Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Disney World on Main Street, USA.

In others, consumers took to social media to question the style choices of Disney designers, such as those who were shocked and confused by the new Haunted Mansion line recently released at the parks.

A fan revealed a Disney merchandise fail using the popular TikTok trend “What I Wanted and What I Got” which resulted in 20,000 new followers overnight. User @whattheygot showcased a terrifying line of face masks in a series of videos that fans have to see to believe.

The products are designed to transform buyers into popular Disney characters using full-sheet face masks. Below are the videos they have posted so far.

The Thumper Face Mask video was the first in the series. Derived from Disney Bambi (1942), the mask leaves the wearer looking more like a circus clown and less like a forest fellow.

Another was the Cruella face mask, which was intended to transform the wearer into Cruella de Vil, the villain from Disney’s classic film. 101 Dalmatians (1961). The poster described this option as just plain “brutal”.

The Stitch Face Mask was probably the most successful of the mask line, though per Lilo and Stitch (2002) official film description of him being “a genetic experiment escaped from a distant planet”, so the analogy might not be saying much.
